The Filmmaker’s journey with Uma, a certified scuba diver, exploring the underwater world and the threat to the coral reefs of the Gulf of Mannar. Born in a traditional family, inspired by the beauty of the corals, Uma learnt how to swim, dive and paint in her 50s, and has since been trying to bring attention to this alarming environmental crisis through her paintings.
A graduate of FTII (Pune), Nitasha divides her time between projects in Delhi, Canada and Thailand. Her freelance work experience ranges from fiction to non-fiction, and everything in between. She has worked on ad films, documentaries, television shows, video installations, music videos, short films, and her abiding passion – underwater cinematography. Ask anyone she has worked with and they will tell you that it is in the most challenging circumstances that her obsession with all things cinematic shines through, and her enthusiasm adds priceless momentum to the project.
