FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSIONS
Areas that are home to the urban poor are often the most densely populated, with poor sewage and sanitation; in addition, the dwellings are often made of materials that are not weather resistant. In the face of a climate hazard, such conditions coupled with existing physical, social, economic and other inequalities that these groups face, increase their exposure and risk; further reducing their ability to cope and recover.
The Climate Charche Focus Group Discussions seek to
- highlight the intersectionality of climate change and understand the disproportionate burden of climate challenges faced by the city’s vulnerable communities.
- facilitate opportunities for a wider sharing of local adaptation and resilience strategies and their implications for city plans and policy.

CLIMATE CHARCHE LECTURE SERIES
As the country moves towards greater urbanisation, the role of the built environment in cities to enable climate adaptation and resilience is critical. How can we nurture sensitivity in young minds to the interlinkages of climate change with the city’s different systems; and how can we highlight the impact of sustainable choices in their chosen professions, as they embark on their careers. The Climate Charche Lecture Series will include sessions by various resource persons who are domain experts on different aspects of sustainability in the urban space.

SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS
Climate Change is a complex issue that needs the coming together of as many stakeholders as possible. The social media campaigns are being planned with a view to enable this and amplify the research and work being done on different aspects of climate change and its interlinkages with other city systems by several organisations and institutions in the city. These would take the form of active issue-based social media collaborations or sharing already existing work /research/ interventions on a chosen thematic – like water, public health, mobility, etc.

OPEN SERIES
The Climate Charche Open series is planned as a diverse set of sessions across formats and audiences in the city; with a view to build capacity, share knowledge and encourage discussions on different aspects of climate change and city systems, among a variety of stakeholders.
These could take the form of capacity building workshops, film screenings, round tables and more.
