ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಸತಿ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಇಂದು ಕೇವಲ ಸೂರಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಬದಲಿಗೆ ಇದು ಹವಾಮಾನ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ, ಅಸಮಾನತೆ, ಆಡಳಿತ ಮತ್ತು ಘನತೆಯ ಬದುಕಿನ ಸಂಧಿ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಿಚಾರವಾಗಿದೆ.

Indira  is a waste picker in Bengaluru, who started the family business of paper collection at the age of 10. Her extensive route covers major areas like Majestic-KR Market and Lalbagh, where she efficiently manages the collection of diverse materials, including metal, organic waste, and paper.

Despite facing regular logistical and public challenges, Indira’s commitment is exemplary. Through the support of Hasiru Dala, she has secured a formal professional identity -a waste picker card, which has also facilitated access to education, health insurance, and employment for her children. A proud representative of her community, Indira has participated in international forums. She advocates for improved community waste segregation and aims to achieve a secure home and professional success for her children.

ಇಂದಿರಾ

Ashwin Mahesh

Ashwin is a climate scientist and social entrepreneur. He founded and leads LVBL Accelerator, a company focusing on quickening the adoption of sustainable products and services. Previously, he founded the electric vehicles-based transportation service, Lithium, the social technology lab, Mapunity, and the development magazine, India Together. His interests are in ‘increasing the number of problem solving people’, and building ‘peer-to-peer relationships between state, market and society’ as necessary responses to large public challenges. He teaches a graduate course based on these themes at Kautilya School of Public Policy. In Bangalore, he works closely with the Proximity Project, a neighborhood improvement initiative that clusters local experience centres, skilling and job opportunities, and sustainable community projects. He was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship in 2009.

ಅಶ್ವಿನ್ ಮಹೇಶ್ ಹವಾಮಾನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ. ಇವರು ಎಲ್‌ವಿಬಿಎಲ್ ಅಕ್ಸೆಲರೇಟರ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು. ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಸುಸ್ಥಿರ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೇವೆಗಳ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ತ್ವರಿತಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗಮನಹರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೂ ಮೊದಲು, ಆತ ಲಿಥಿಯಮ್ ಎಂಬ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ವಾಹನ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ಸೇವೆ, ಮ್ಯಾಪ್‌ಯುನಿಟಿ ಎಂಬ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಪ್ರಯೋಗಾಲಯ, ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಟುಗೆದರ್ ಎಂಬ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬೃಹತ್ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸವಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಪರಿಹರಿಸುವ ಜನರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಜ್ಯ, ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಸಹಕಾರದ ಪೀರ್-ಟು-ಪೀರ್ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಉವುದು ಅವರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ.
