This project addresses shallow groundwater depletion in Bapujinagar, Bengaluru by restoring wells, monitoring groundwater, and mapping the aquifer for future recharge well projects, with residents, technical partners and local authorities as stakeholders.

Bapujinagar has four surviving shallow wells, still used on and off for domestic and non-potable needs. The project will document, restore and protect these local water resources.

Groundwater depletion, urbanisation and reduced rainwater infiltration are increasing water stress in the neighbourhood.
The wells lack systematic water-quality, yield and aquifer monitoring and risk being lost to neglect or contamination.

Socratus Foundation, Again Resource Labs and Elixir Geotech will work with residents to clean, test and monitor the wells.
Aquifer mapping, household surveys and technical studies will identify groundwater conditions and potential future recharge areas.

The project will create four restored and monitored wells, a neighbourhood aquifer map and an open evidence base.
It will strengthen community stewardship and provide a framework for future recharge and groundwater-protection efforts.
